Weapon Alekhine, formation in chess named in honour of the former chess Grand master, Alexander Alekhine. This formation at first was played against other glorified Grand master, Aron Nimzovich in 1930 SanRemo, coming to an end with victory Alekhine’s.
The idea consists of formation of the battery with two rookes, combined one behind another and the queen in back, it can lead to massive damage to the opponent as it usually marks the beginning of a final attack (in this case, it were only four steps before the assistant). Weapon Alekhine is rather difficult to gather because parts which it demands, can be involved in a covering of some disputable areas also. It should be used only when very clear and often decided advantage should be received, aiming against the protected areas vital heavilly.
Weapon Alekhine's can lead to insuperable loss in rate, and it can matter in competition. Here competition which generated weapon Alekhine's: Alexander Alekhine against Aron Nimzovich: 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3. Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5. Bd2 Ne7 6. Nb5 Bxd2 + 7. Qxd2 0–0 8.c3 b6 9.f4 Ba6 10. Six years later, in 1936, William Winter - defeted Alekhine in Nottingham, again the victory is provided by weapon Alekhin. Since then chess players studied much about use and acceptance of measures against this beautiful formation. However, some international games are still lost and won by force of weapon Alekhine. |
