Whether really educational camps of the Teenager Are effective? You Can be surprised

Discusses young educational camps in the light of new researches.

It is a lot of parents by mistake believe, that the young educational camp will frighten their teenager in acceptance of correct decisions, only to learn too late, that such programs lead only to time results and can cause the big problems later. The majority of parents which send their child to young educational camp, searches for the short-term program which will lead to constant updating of behaviour. Their basic precondition - that gravity of the program will serve as an appeal to action and to shake their child in acceptance of the best decisions (that is, their child “scared it will be direct”). They can wish to learn to their child a lesson – that it not the Universe centre.

Unfortunately, the decision is not so simple. As use of young educational camps became visible in 1990, numerous researches have been spent on efficiency of these programs. These researches identified some deficiencies in young educational camps which do by their inefficient method of rehabilitation of capricious teenagers.

Retsidivizm it is extended. Young educational camps do not reduce probability, that the child will come back to the former behaviour as soon as it leaves educational camp. This tendency to run again into earlier form of behaviour is known as retsidivizm. As intimidating environment of young educational camp can seem far removed as soon as the child comes back to more convenient settlement, retsidivizm is extended among former visitors of educational camp.

Confrontational Atmosphere Is potentially destructive. Experts agree, that the confrontational approach used by young educational camps, is not corresponding. Use of intimidation, the insult, and fear to reach behaviour updating is destructive and can lead to constant harm to the child. For children with studying, behavioural, or emotional difficulties, humiliating methods of young educational camps can be especially destructive.

Educational camps Do not provide Prosocial Consulting Skills. Young educational camps do not supply children with skills which they should follow outside of environment of educational camp. As children develop, they should learn, that skills should make of the decision independently and live in a society. They should study to behave properly as soon as intimidation threat is removed. As young educational camps do not model prosocial behaviour and sympathy, they do not give to children a maturity and the self-control necessary to succeed in the real world.

Based on these and other deficiencies, it is a lot of authorities, including National Association of Intellectual health, have concluded, that “shock imprisonment” methods of young educational camps is an inefficient and potentially harmful method of contact to behaviour problems in concerned teenagers.
