To all of us well inform by present time, on the appearing crisis which is calling up our energy (or more likely I will tell, oil?) the industry. Dependence of America on foreign oil and our requirement to make alternative fuel sources – whether is it from Ethanol, nuclear, solar or thermal – and them pro and contra, has been well discussed and studied by men of science, at least recently. The President Bush aspires to Ethanol, and increase in a strategic oil stock long-awaited notes and definitely first step.
There is one aspect of an energy crisis which we Americans tend to forget. If I should tell it in a word, all of you would look at me with your lifted eyebrows! Hence allow me to draw your attention to Europe and Australia where streets and roads are much narrower than in our country. In Europe or Australia, one thing, it definitely better than here, use – people – and operation (government) of services of public transport. Except New York, Washington D.C, some selected cities of the Northeast, Chicago (also there can be California to some extent) is unique parts in our nation which can brag about good services of public transport.
Now, how it concerns conservation of energy? Well, using public transport, or at least the uniting car would help a long way with economy topliv. Imagine four persons going from the same neighbourhood, leading thirty miles, to work over the same site. Instead of taking four sedans (or SUVs, thanks to our love to ' to adult young men) everyday, we could take only one sedan and rescue much on gas. Considering working week of five days and year of forty five weeks, our total saves in distance annually, would be more than twenty thousand miles. (3 people* 5 days * 45 weeks * 30 miles = 20 250 miles annually). Believing, that the average car gives distance thirty, we would rescue six hundred seventy five gallons of gas annually. And it only because four persons with similarly conceiving requirements solved to a motor depot! Imagine what would happen, whether hundred people have decided to use at least still public transport? As John Lennon could tell, “Imagine … if all people … took public transport …”
Using public transport has other advantages also. Not only that you save yourselves from dangers of movement, you could make some pleasant things while in a way. You could be prepared for an essential meeting with the client, freshen your mind, listening to a song, or you could read simply Washington Post to enrich your knowledge. Besides, it is related ‘ outsourcing ’ yours to reach the professional. Why take out a growling damnation at movement and place negative thoughts in your system, when you could occupy simply one minute to relax in public transport services? It could go also much in restriction of our gases of a greenhouse which are spoken by scientists, at disturbing levels.
Our system of public transport is not better in the world, but, on the other hand, I agree, that it could even be the worst in the developed world.
Besides, there are myriads of problems with our public transport – or shortage of it is, which we should establish. It still not the safe of percent of cent to go in all systems of public transport to the USA. We should have security guards in a place and also other measures as separate buses/compartments for children and women to guarantee their safety. Unique responsibility of installation of all they do not lay with one only the government, but also and with all of us, especially in this democratic country.
I know, that it not the real decision of our energy crisis. But taking a remark from one of highlights of our corporations, "the kept energy is the energy received". And as soon as the public transport becomes well connected and reaches laudable degrees of service, the government should encourage people to use these services by decrease in taxes within several years. To people who conduct less than 7 500 miles annually, it is necessary to give, tax privileges for speak, three years.
Almost all, apparently, receive some form of clearing of tax payment these days, so, why not one more? Jokes separately, such stimulus definitely would be useful to the big section of middle class. Thus we could kill two birds with one stone even if it is poor quantity – lift middle class a little and also keep a lot of energy.
While, I expressed the sights concerning other way to keep our energy.
Probably, you can fairly reject it, or to name this, "lateral" or ' from a box ' thought. And these ideas are not easy to carry out – but than photogalvanic cells, solar, thermal, nuclear, the wind or ethanol definitely is easier – and could occupy many years to lead to positive results. However, as they speak, "the trip of thousand miles begins with one step". And time was never better to make that step, to a correct management. |
