I the help cannot, thinking as this holiday was only other fascinating part of life Martins. He tells the painful experience to the Daily Nation. “It has happened too sharply. I think, that it has lasted only 30 seconds. There was no time to make, something,” has told Martin in Village Shella, where it has gone to pay its last relations to Kibawaa whom it has described as “a the strong swimmer and the brave navigator”.
Kibawaa’s Three children, 14-year-old Tima Ali in Standard Seven in elementary school HGM, Fatuma Ali, 13 in an elementary school of sir Ali bin Salim and Omar Ali, 12 at the same school spent on Martin’s, hands over as though to find the answer to them father’s sudden death.
“An the empty drum in which we bore fuel, seemed partially approximately on distance in 60 metres. I shouted to the colleagues, go, go to a drum and keep on it.”
In the meantime, Martin clinging on a small spongy part of a chair, has broken a boat so it is strong as though its all life hung on it. It was around 5pm.
“Suddenly, I saw Kibawaa who was very strong swimmer, finishing an empty drum, calling up Whitby to follow it. Soon after, I have stopped to hear any voice.”
Darkness in which creep also a real panic, has grasped the British tourist who visited Malindi within last 16 years twice every year, spending holiday within three weeks.
“I saw a fleeting boat and thought, that the saviour has arrived. But it only has gone. I shouted me hoarse for the help. Its command did not hear me,” has told Martin.
“I should cause bravery to live. My heart then has told to me to kick, kick, kick. And I kicked, kicked, kicked, all time thinking about Kibawaa and Whitby, hoping, that they were well.”
It was last midnight when, settled, but happy to be live, it has reached Seas Malindi Fishing Club to find, that Whitby has arrived two hours before with sad news. But site Kibawaa’s was still not known.
“We saw, that the small boat has come nearer, and has suddenly disappeared. But we, did not do many notes as waves, were big. It usually happens,” has told Mzee Ba Muhaj Abdalla, the watchman protecting boats on sea front.
When news about the overturned boat have reached Villages Shella, inhabitants have mobilised themselves and have gone for search along coast.
“We took a vehicle, and use of its light of a beam, we combed a coast line completely to River mouth Sabaki without success,” has told Mzee Abdalla.
But after fulfilment of several trips upwards and downwards, they have noticed moving object on sandy coast. “It was an empty drum and on distance in some metres, we have found lifeless body Kibawaa’s which we have carried away.” (The daily Nation 2/22/07) From time to time holidays can end tragical, and celebratory manufacturers have asked to be cautious as some of actions which they undertake, could be fatal. |
