PNG replaces files GIF for digital graphic storage

GIF - one of the oldest formats of a file used for graphic and digital storage of photos. At GIF there are many technical advantages, but it also has one inconvenience of the large capital. GIF uses compression LZW which is confused with patents and licensing of problems. Free creation and use of files GIF always were in debate.

While GIF - the big format for drawing storage, use of files GIF represents some problems of licensing. Definitely GIF uses algorithms of compression LZW which are patented and not free to use. This format named PNG – the Portable Drawing of the Network – and it has been developed to be so effective as GIF, but free for use without any risk of problems of patents or licensing. PNG also has been developed during an Internet era and also has been developed with the Internet and use of networks in memory.

Both GIF and PNG have been developed and are mainly used to store a drawing. Some people confuse a drawing to digital photos though these two are completely various.
