Hung magnetic, or a pole, cancellation was one of hot themes of 80-s' when the book "Change of the Pole" John White was the best seller, and was considered, that it could happen any time now.
As with the majority prophesies round the end of the twentieth century, the sense of the hung destruction has decreased, and pole change ", warning", has been lowered to change of a pole "hours".
But it is one of those things which very possibly are going to happen during some moment "soon" in earth history...., it only, that the mankind has very small idea of full terrestrial hours, and to the earth, "is fast" could mean at any time for the following of 100 000 years so do not hold the breath. Scientists say now to us, that pole changes occur, on the average, once each 500 000 years. Last change of a pole was 780 000 years ago, thus we are overdue for one (the same as we are overdue for the big strike of an asteroid, and for eruption of a volcano of the first-rate quality.... Only hope, that all of them do not happen at once!)
The geological report of a planet has very clear certificate, that pole changes have occurred many times in the past and there is no doubt, that they will occur again. (The Phenomenon mentioned here as "pole change", is not change of a crust by thousand miles, and is faster, changes in a planet magnetic field. Some unfair authors in 70-s' and 80-s' have tried to mean, that continents were going to start to slide about similar plavjashchemsja ice on a hot plate, but this not current scientific reflexion).
However, not all good news. Until recently, was considered, that pole changes were gradual process. But the recent certificate from studying of alignment of iron particles in lava streams has found one case where the magnetic field of the Earth has moved 80 degrees in 13 days.
Compasses would be obviously made, as will be all navigating tools which depend on them. So sending, the flight and all equipment GPS, including companions, would be oflajnovymi, while we did not find out how to cope with cancellation. Global trade would be brought quickly to inactivity, and winners possibly will appear what remembered how to spend in the old ways, such as nomadic people and seafarers on old sailing courts
Migratory birds, fish and animals would become confused. It could lead to them wandering far from current feeding and spawning areas, in the areas which are not approaching for them, and the animal and the person could is rather easy to be concieved as reduction to mass disappearances, destruction of an inhabitancy and life loss, both.
While this last theory sporna, scientists have already shown, that insects can be actually killed as a result of fluctuations in magnetic fields round them, and the same experimenters have shown similar though it is less, effects in people, leaving their stunned and confused. If you consider number of people involved in operational cars which would be dangerous to a life in case of defective operation, you can see, that global effects possibly were big.
Besides large-scale fluctuations in magnetic fields would beat out suppliers of the power, and all electromagnetic communications could be obviously destroyed for long time intervals.
Fast magnetic cancellation would include very large-scale fluctuations in a magnetic field of the Earth which expands 60 000 km from a planet surface. Also it is considered many fatalists, that the reduced magnetic field which protects us from the vigorous particles which are let out continuously by the sun, would leave us vulnerable for harmful effects of magnetic storm generated by solar flashes and sun stains. It would be probable dangerously for our health :)
BUT the magnetic field does not protect the earth from solar flashes. It simply conducts ions of a solar wind in polar areas where their vigorous collisions with the top atmosphere make the luminescent plasma known as Northern and Southern Fires (Aurora Borealis and Aurora Australis). It is atmosphere of the earth which actually interferes with that the solar wind has reached surfaces, and it irrespective of a magnetic field.
It is considered some geologists, that the fast switch in a magnetic field could lead to efforts in layers of breed and lead to the main earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, with the possible scenario "Fire Ring" all leaving at once and a world parcel in nuclear winter.
So, if you consider the world without TV, radio, phones (established or mobile), computers, the shop cash desks, any planes, any vessels, any radar, any aviadispatching service where the weapon of mass defeat, possibly, will leave without human intervention, and nuclear submarines have suddenly started to blow up spontaneously while at the age of power stations has lost all their regulating barriers you will understand possibilities. Think of all disasters about which they warned for so-called "Problems of 2000" in 2000, then imagine all of them actually slucheniem. Then imagine terrestrial concussion, the hot ashes falling on your head, approach of a tidal wave, and the migratory herd Wildebeest, rising on your threshold.
As to the United Nations.... They would transfer the decision against it, but it happens anyhow. But what is still new? |
