| Vodafone throw down challenge Ofcom on the number holding time frameworks in a front rack. |

Ofcom have called, that the number holding time in a front rack was faster, than it now. Now it is required approximately seven days for numbers to port, but Ofcom want, that it has been reduced about two days by March, 31st 2008.
Three support it completely, and O2 declared, that they will enter two-day transferring on two weeks earlier than regulating necessary date from March, 31st. Representations of T-mobile phones are yet known, but Vodafone and the Orange against change in time transferring.
Vodafone have addressed to the CAT (Tribunal of References of Competition) against Ofcoms transferring of offers, there the argument which is, that faster transferring will increase mobile phone cases ‘ slamming ’. This problem could be easily solved, if the network contacted the client (through the text) who asked number port, declaring date, which the port will pass also to ask that the client has contacted a network as soon as possible if they did not ask to be on it made.
Numbers are transferred to Ireland within a maximum of two hours, and RegCom (reguljativnyj body Ireland's) do not know about any waves in ‘ slamming ’ cases. Surprisingly Vodafone should know already it as they have 45 %-s' action of clients in Ireland.
Vodafone also assert, that the central database, which should be created for number ports to pass within two days, will cost ten times more, that 12 million which have estimated Ofcom.
The case will be spent on 5th of March, any networks which also wish to interfere, should interfere quickly as they only should make till February, 29th so. The orange intends formally to register their interests in the CAT, and British the Telecom have not has excluded intervention, as Vodafone - BT’s MVNO the partner. |
