Only remember that depth of field changes along with f number: when f the number increases depth of field increases and on the contrary.
Usual use manually to operate value of the aperture and to reach narrow depth of area, taking photos of a portrait and trying to soil a background behind object of a portrait. As always the best way to understand, that you can make with various parametres of adjustment of the aperture, consists in experimenting.
