At the Promise, Put

At the Promise, Put
The author: Kent Humphreys
As I sat at lunch with the young insurance head, he has brought up a question. It had an exclusive contract with the insurance company to sell only their products, but its agents wished to sell a competitive product also.

My friend wished to know, whether will be correctly moral to make it through other company in which it had capital investments. I have reminded it, that it has made the agreement, the promise. Its word or reputation were the most valuable possession which it had. Short-term benefit would lead to the long-term broken promises and a pain if it pursued this course. I have asked, that it has considered contract intention, not only letters from the law.

Business about relations, and relations are based on long-term obligations and have established trust. The majority of us breaks promises every day on work. We transfer to be at a meeting, or to finish the message by certain time, or to deliver a new product, or to send certain date, or to pay within terms. The majority of an inefficiency in business is caused by the broken promises and shortage of performance work in time. For example, clients, probably, do not give the navigable order when is promised. The customs goods sit on the dock waiting for shipment. All do small promises which are not constrained.

They meant to give the order for delivery, or to send a part in time, or to do inquiry of service quickly, but intention has not been executed. What would happen, whether we have made promises "over" to receive business, or “under deliver” after we have got a job or the order?

The broken conditions of the contract, not paid accounts, have strained relations, an overtime, last shipments, have passed deadlines, and were late, orders, apparently, norm in business today. In day “just in time” the stock, some companies seldom deliver as is promised. In two firms in which I am involved, key clients and suppliers have a track record of the broken promises. They need to resist and dealt, or business will not survive. Allow me to divide some specific features:

Bill - the president of a product company which makes certain products. Its firm now starts to recover since three years of recession of capital investments by their industry. The key client constantly puts pressure for fast performance, but seldom delivers the order for delivery in time. Bill should encourage the clients to hold the obligations, or its firm is not effective and is not favourable.

Joe operates distribution firm in which their exclusive supplier constantly raises the prices because of shortage of communications, bad analysis of possibilities of sale, and small long-term planning. Because of these bad business operational methods its key supplier, Joe cannot keep the clients informed precisely.

These broken promises lead to millions dollars of the lost profit for Joe, its supplier, and its client. In each of these cases, Bill and Joe should show to their clients and suppliers, that when business partners constrain the promises, results trust relations, smooth running operations, and long-term profit.

In a day in which these types of situations are expected, we as supporters in business should be an exception. First of all, we should not make the rash promise to receive the account or the order. We should instruct the commercial command to at the promise, not under the promise. They should deliver, not under deliver. The god is in earnest about promises very much. In the promise Bible name oaths, pledges, agreements, or obligations. The god has asked not to enter us agreements, that we cannot hold. In days of the Old testament, hand shake or promised was the contract. Independently, whether you have a made contract or not, you should constrain each promise, that you or your staff do. The bible says to us, that we should constrain, that the promise even if damages (the Psalm 15:4) or if it there was an error (Joshua 9:21).

The god has made many promises Abrahamu, to Isaac, Jacob, David, and to us. It constrains each promise (Joshua 23:14). It holds The word for thousand generations (Vtorozakonie 7:9). We will hold to ours within month or year? We should be very cautious concerning oaths which we give to the God (Vtorozakonie 23:21; Ekkleziast 5:4). It is better not to swear than not to hold that oath. We should be cautious concerning people with whom we do agreements. They can become a trap to us (the Outcome 23:22).

So, today, wonder, you have made what promises, which do not remain? They with your clients, the sellers serving, the banker, or the spouse? How we can aspire to influence the world when we do not hold the word? When Christian business leaders become “promise keepers” then, we will start to influence and transform our cities and our society. Make your purpose this month to constrain, that your promise then “over deliver.”
